SOLIDWORKS animation of an assembly is a representation of its motion in an assembly which can be done either by creating animations or configurations. With these easy process, we can represent the different positions of components in an assembly but are time-consuming.
SOLIDWORKS has introduced a new feature in 2016 called SOLIDWORKS Mate Controller which can specify positions of your assembly components using mate values and degrees of freedom without having to use configurations for positions or Animations.
SOLIDWORKS Mate Controller is also integrated with Motion Studies, so we can create animations based on the positions we define with the Mate Controller, thus making the process of animating movement much faster and easier.
Check out the below tutorial for more information and workflow of SOLIDWORKS Mate Controller and different Mates supported for Mate Controller.
